OnTheAir Flow takes advantage of the powerful Mix-and-Match playback engine of OnTheAir Video, allowing media with different codecs, containers, formats, and frame rates to be used together without transcoding. Professional codecs are supported alongside a wide range of container formats including .mov, .mxf, .mp4, .m4v, and transport streams. Because OnTheAir Video can mix these formats directly within the same playlist, OnTheAir Flow can work with the original media exactly as it is delivered. This eliminates the need for time-consuming conversions while preserving the integrity of the source content.

When media is delivered from national content providers such as Extreme Reach, PitchBlue, or OnTheSpot Media, OnTheAir Flow reads the metadata included with the delivery and automatically segments the media according to those instructions. This ensures content is prepared exactly as the provider intended, preserving timing, structure, and playback accuracy while eliminating manual preparation.

OnTheAir Flow helps ensure consistent audio across your content pipeline. Built-in audio normalization tools automatically balance levels for locally produced media, helping stations maintain reliable broadcast standards without manual adjustment. When content contains multiple audio tracks, OnTheAir Flow works seamlessly with OnTheAir Video’s dynamic audio mapping capabilities, allowing tracks to be mapped automatically during playback. The result is a workflow where audio is prepared intelligently, playback remains flexible, and original media files remain untouched.

OnTheAir Flow automatically generates lightweight proxy files, making it easy to review media from anywhere through a web browser. Teams can watch content, preview captions and language tracks, and create or adjust segments without modifying the original media. From their desks, users can quickly review incoming assets, make adjustments, and approve content for playout—streamlining collaboration and accelerating the path from delivery to air.

Automatic rules can be applied for file naming, and the workflow is easily configurable by the user to match specific naming conventions. This makes delivery preparation consistent across every destination and channel.
